Gleeds is a world-class property and construction consultancy with over 135 years’ experience. With such heritage comes great responsibility, and it is only through acting responsibly that we earn the trust of our clients and our people.
Our approach to corporate responsibility is based on four strands – our workplace, our environment, our communities and our marketplace.
Our people are our most valuable assets and we are committed to their wellbeing. Gleeds believes in the importance of a healthy work/life balance and encourage all our people to make time for the other important things in life. Training and development has always been a top priority and we continually invest in our people to give them the skills they need to be at the top of their game.
Gleeds recognises that all activities can impact on the environment both locally and globally and acknowledges the need for responsible action in this area. We are committed to minimising any adverse impact on the environment and seek to continuously improve our environmental performance. We aim to ensure all our people are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness in this area.
Working with the communities within which we operate is extremely important to Gleeds. It enables us to share the talent of our people with others, give and gain from work experience and help people develop to their full potential.
We believe that to be a responsible and sustainable business, collaboration is key. So whether it’s building a sustainable supply chain, providing pro bono services or helping a client achieve their charitable goals, our long term relationships and mutual respect help drive innovative solutions for the industry as a whole.
Global Reporting Initiative
Our Environmental Social Governance Report 2021 aligns with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an independent, international organisation that promotes economic, environmental and social sustainability. The organisation has developed standards that strive to increase and improve transparent reporting across all businesses.
This is Gleeds’ first ESG report adhering to the core level of the GRI, titled “Together for a sustainable future”. A full materiality assessment was conducted through both our ESG Steering and Consultation Groups.

Team Peninsula vs Plastic Pollution
We are excited to support Team Peninsula who are rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic, from La Gomera to Antigua, to raise awareness about the ever-increasing volume of plastics that are finding their way into the world’s oceans. To know more about this amazing initiative click here.
Contractor’s Appeal – Making a Difference
When we were contacted by the Contractor’s Appeal, we immediately planned how we could help. This campaign has been established to collect urgently needed personal protective equipment (PPE) from the UK construction sector, delivering it directly to hospital and healthcare workers who are saving lives in the battle against COVID-19.
The Contractor’s Appeal works with the National Equipment Appeal database to register supplies and deliver them directly to hospitals and healthcare facilities across the UK. Volunteer drivers from our industry are supporting the campaign, whilst also delivering hot meals to NHS and care staff who are working in such difficult conditions.
One day in April 2020, a volunteer driver collected 320 face masks from the doorstep of our London office at 9.30am. By midday, they had been delivered and were being used at a care village in Walton-on-Thames. This care village was in lockdown and had no suitable PPE. Our donation was part of a package which included PPE from several firms – a further 2,000 face masks, 1,000 pairs of surgical gloves, 200 disposable suits and 100 protective balaclavas. This small act shows how, through collaboration, our sector can make a significant impact and we were grateful for the opportunity to be able to support healthcare workers.
This is what ‘making a difference’ really looks like. Thank you Gleeds. You have made a real difference for many people in care today. Paul Ford, Chairman of De Group UK and founder of The Contractor’s Appeal.
